welcome!

Welcome to my little studio. I am excited to share what is going on in my art practice, one project or thought at a time. I paint to tell my story. It is a story of gratitude for the people in my life. For the creativity in all of us, manifested in so many ways. For the love, and for the beauty in the work of the first and greatest artist.

chickens

this is a grade four Yukon Edventure math project
The goal was to be able to identify polygons.

1) Use the tangrams to piece together an animal. Draw other animals and the background in an organic way.
 2) Trace the picture on to your fabric with a black marker.
3) Add some texture, details and highlights with crayons.
This will add to the finished piece's "richness".
Apply molten wax as a resist to the next step; fabric dye.
4: Paint with fabric dye, using a sponge brush.
The whitish lines are called water marks. They are areas where the water traveled from the brush further than the fabric dye travelled.
Iron your piece, and there you go.
A math concept reinforced through visual art.
While we were working on these, we began to see polygons in everything around us, including our faces.
The organic animals were easier to draw when we used shapes to guide us.
